The Elgin valley in Grabouw, commonly know for it’s apples, pears and grapes, boasting lush quiet scenery and cool climate, expertly crafted wines.
This area offers various activities for travelers, some include quad biking, vineyard cruises, open air concerts, art browsing and of course wine tasting. Head to the Elgin Valley Tourismpage for all the information you may require.
I had the honor of attending the Elgin Wine and Country Festival in style, thanks to the organisers and The Rola Group.
I have decided to share two of my favourite Elgin spots… These are unique and definitely worth visiting!!!
BELFIELD WINE FARM

Elgin’s smallest wine estate is family owned and run. Belfield produce three small batch wines (Magnifica-single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, a single vineyard Syrah, and a Merlot led blend, the Aristata).
Belfield have three beautiful farm-stay cottages on the farm for those looking for a peaceful get away. There is a cellar, magnificent gardens to wander through and tastings are available by appointment.

TERRA MADRE
If you are a foodie like me, then Terra Madre has to be on your list of places to eat in Elgin. This is a food destination surrounded by apples orchards, olives, fish filled dams and top notch vegetable gardens.
Terra Madre is where Nicole Precoudis (well known chef) lives. She has been preparing traditional Greek dishes using wholesome local produce for years. She is living her dream and sharing her parent’s passion for Mediterranean dishes.
I am certainly heading back the first chance I get to sample some more of Nicole’s scrumptious food. I would suggest you head to their website/Facebook page as there is so much going on, from open gardens, to a newly opened food barn, deli and even food deliveries. I highly recommend you book a table in the orchards ASAP!!!
